概要:While fatal heat-related injury during sport is mercifully rare, many cases of heat-related illness have been documented. To appropriately manage heat stress risk, the development of evidence-based extreme heat policies is of paramount importance. In order to maximize impact, these policies must be implementable at the desired level of competition but also feasible given the resources available. This proposed Symposium will share the theoretical, practical and logistical considerations associated with developing and implementing extreme heat policies in different environments across the sporting world: From the Australian Open tennis tournament, which is aired live to over 900 million homes worldwide annually, to the forthcoming Tokyo 2021 games, which is forecasted to be the hottest games ever. At the community level, the extreme heat management of football players at high school and college levels in the US will be discussed, as well as in community rugby, tennis and cricket in Australia.
